A tragedy is defined as a dramatic or literary work in which the principal character engages in a mor totallyy significant struggle ending in precipitation or profound disappointment. In creating his tragedy Antigone, Sophocles uses many techniques to raise the feelings of panic and compassion in his indorsers. This in stoop creates an exquisite tragedy. In order for a play to be considered a tragedy it must achieve the purgation of fear and pity. In the play Antigone, Sophocles does a great job of rescue step up these both emotions in a subscriber. At the first of the play there is a conference between Antigone and her sis Ismene. During the talk the reader learns the two girls lost their father; and in fighting and both of their brothers at the hands of one another. so the reader learns that one of the brothers, Polynices, has been left out to die without a suitable burial. At this time the reader begins to feel pity for the two sisters. They have lost their father and their two brothers all at bottom a short time. Later in the conversation the reader learns that Antigone has a plan to bury here brother Polynices and that she requisites Ismene to jock her. Ismene is scared to do this because the new king, Creon, has issued a rule: Listen, Ismene: Creon buried our brother Eteocles with military honors, gave him a soldiers funeral, and it was reform that he should; solely Polyneices, who fought and died as miserably, - they say that Creon has cuss no one shall bury him, no one regret for him, but his body must lie in the fields, a smart treasure for carrion birds to find as they search for food, that is what they say, and our skinny Creon is climax here to announce it publicly; and the penalty stoning to cobblers last in th e public square!
